Hi, my name is Sherry (Harless) Peroza. As a young child my family moved around a lot because my father was in the Army. When I was twelve, we moved back to Fort Wayne where we started attending church regularly. It was during a youth group activity that I realized that I was a sinner and in need of a Savior; at that time I accepted Christ into my life. After I graduated from BCS and then Summit Christian College, I realized God was calling me to be a missionary to Venezuela. While there, I did translating and used my elementary education degree to teach English.
I met my husband, Luis, in Venezuela, where we served for about 6 years with Word of Life. In 2003, God lead us back to Fort Wayne. It was here that we discovered more of His plan. We moved to Memphis TN where we worked in a couple of Spanish speaking churches for 8 years and I taught at a Christian school. About 5 1/2 years ago, God put in our hearts to move back to Fort Wayne where most of my family lives; it was a great decision! Luis and I have been married for almost 19 years and have 3 wonderful children. Ryan loves acting, writing and making movies. Elizabeth enjoys adventure and getting good grades. Emily enjoys playing teacher and watching her siblings doing their activities.
God knew what He was doing when He brought me back to Blackhawk. I have had the privilege of working at BCS for five years with primary age students. I enjoy working in the classrooms and often get the opportunity to work with students one on one; this gives me the chance to know the kids’ hearts. I graduated from BCS, but I didn't start until 8th grade. Imagine how blessed these young students are to be able to not just get an education, but to learn how to grow into young men and women who love the Lord. It is so exciting!
