BOYS BASKETBALL STATE CHAMPIONS!
The boys basketball team won the State Championship on Saturday by defeating Linton-Stockton 52-45! This is the 3rd State championship in the basketball program history and 8th State Championship for Blackhawk Christian School! Congratulations to Coach Roth and the Braves! Thank you to the Blackhawk Christian school community for all your support throughout the season and especially in Indianapolis last Saturday!

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SPIRIT WEAR IN APRIL
We will have a State Championship spirit wear store available after Spring Break. We will send out information on how to order in April.

School will be closed on Friday, March 29, 2023 and will resume on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Enjoy some time with family and friends.

What is STEM?
Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education puts an emphasis on preparing future generations to have successful futures.

Why is STEM important?
STEM-based education teaches children more than science and mathematics concepts. The focus on hands-on learning with real-world applications helps develop a variety of skill sets, including creativity, media and technology literacy, productivity, social skills, communication, flexibility and initiative. Other skills attained through STEM education include problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, curiosity, decision making, leadership, entrepreneurship, acceptance of failure and more. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators.

I am excited to announce our next international educational trip opportunity to Rome, Italy in the summer of 2024. Last year we traveled to London, and this year we are taking students on a combined trip to France and Spain. These trips are designed as educational opportunities for students to see different parts of the world and experience cultures they might otherwise not be able to experience.
Dates: July 16-22, 2024
Chaperones: Faculty from BCS
Student Cost: $3509 (includes travel, meal, and experience expenses)
Eligible Students: Any current BCS student in grades 8-11

Beginning next year BCS homecoming will no longer take place during the basketball season, meaning the homecoming we just experienced in January 2023 was the final basketball homecoming at BCS. This fall we will move all of our homecoming festivities outdoors, where we can use additional space to accommodate all those who want to take part.

On Monday after inservice during MLK Day teachers loaded the bus and went to visit Aida to celebrate 50 years of Blackhawk Christian School and her birthday!

In case of late start or school closure we will inform our families via School Messenger with text alerts and automated phone calls. In order to “opt-in” you can text “Y” to 67587. You will receive a confirmation text back. We will also post information on local television stations, school website and office phones. When in doubt, always call the school before driving and travel with caution.
