Blackhawk Christian School is both a Christian ministry and a school. As such, employees must effectively represent Christ as well as possess the technical skills for the position.  A successful applicant will provide evidence of the following:
    • Live and abide by the BCS Articles of Employment and Statement of Faith that is signed annually.
    • Have the ability to function as a member of a team and to work as a team member, harmoniously and cooperatively with professional staff and the school community.

IT Director| Grades PK-12

REPORTS TO: Head of Schools

SUPERVISES: IT Specialist and Help Desk Personnel



The IT Director is responsible for the direction, coordination, integration, and implementation of technology throughout BCS. This position is responsible for planning, purchasing, installing, and maintaining the physical equipment required for the organization, as well as, enabling the full use of software programs for business and education. Research and support education with technology solutions. Blackhawk Ministries and Christian School has two campuses, over 1000 students and over 2000 network devices connected at any given time, there are a lot of opportunities to teach, train, and support the many ministries and school activities that happen at Blackhawk 7 days a week. This position involves continual partnership with the Director of Ministries.



      • Directs the installation of technology systems (i.e. hardware, software, systems, wiring, etc.)
      • Maintains technology equipment; servers, intercoms, alarms, surveillance cameras, software applications, network, etc. working alongside the director of Ministries.
      • Manages a budget for the department, including all technology purchases
      • Works in conjunction with administration to assess/determine technology applications and tools
      • Oversee Help Desks and personnel
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES | delegated with tech team:
      • Directs and assists in the overall safe environment for students and staff regarding technology
      • Supports the operational and education technology initiatives
      • Authorizes permissions and individual access to technology applications to allow proper access for staff, students, and parents
      • Maintains PowerSchool, our main technology software for school management (SIS)
      • Attend training to continually develop and maintain current technology
      • Supervises the technology staff including hiring, training, evaluations, etc.
      • Supervise/Schedule Support Staff to ensure proper coverage of Chapels, events and daily support needs
      • Directs and oversees HTML and website development
      • Works directly with staff, students, and parents on all technology matters
      • Troubleshoot technology issues
      • Supervises IDOE State Reporting – School Wide
      • Oversee the cataloging of equipment at church and school. (Inventory/Location/Check-Out e.g. Chromebooks, TVs, audio/video equipment)
      • Recognizes training needs, develop programs and deliver/coordinate product and skill training for staff and volunteers
      • Responsible for supporting and progressing the resolution of technical problems and to support the resolution of issues that affect the goals of Blackhawk Ministries and Christian School

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Education background (teaching) preferred
  • Technology Knowledge, including HTML
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and advance technology
  • Operational knowledge and setup of operating systems
  • Expert in Information Security
  • Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of classroom technology
  • Ability to manage customer issues from beginning to end – weekly meetings, basic project planning, etc.
  • Supervisory Skill
