Blackhawk Christian School is both a Christian ministry and a school. As such, employees must effectively represent Christ as well as possess the technical skills for the position. A successful applicant will provide evidence of being:

  8. Must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree and currently hold, or be eligible to receive, an Indiana Teacher License.

Preschool Academy - Studio Assistant


Dates: Preschool School Year


Typical Hours: 28 hours per week (7 hours / day MWF, 3.5 hours / day Tu/Th)


Blackhawk Christian Preschool Academy is seeking a caring, competent individual to assist our classroom teachers. This teacher assistant will provide classroom support for a lead teacher by preparing materials, interacting with and supervising students and collaborating with the teacher to facilitate student growth.  This individual will report directly to the Preschool Director and will also:


  • Promote a classroom culture that cultivates a love of learning.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other teaching assistants.
  • Positively communicate with students, families and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director.


This is a part-time position.


Job Requirements:

High school diploma (college credit preferred) 

Previous experience working with children

Long Term Substitute - Preschool Specialist


Dates: August - December 2024


Typical Hours: 20 hours per week, rotating schedule:

  • Week A: MWF morning class, Tu/Th afternoon class
  • Week B: Tu/Th morning class, MWF afternoon class

(Rotating these for the entire semester.)


This long term substitute teacher is responsible for managing and providing whole group and small group instruction to students. The teacher filling this position must be prepared to teach core standards, as well as Bible, to Preschool students, as well as creating and implementing Kindergarten enrichment. This individual will work very closely with the Library Preschool Specialist and will report directly to the Preschool Academy Director.


This substitute teacher, under the direction of, and in collaboration with, the Library Preschool Specialist, will be expected to:

  • Create a classroom culture that promotes a love of learning.
  • Be familiar with the Indiana Early Learning Foundation Standards.
  • Effectively communicate progress of students with parents, teachers, and administration.
  • Develop and use best practices to provide small group or individual instruction.
  • Effectively communicate with parents using newsletters, emails, and occasionally phone calls to best serve students and families.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with three other Preschool Academy lead teachers.
  • Work effectively with and collaboratively with classroom assistant(s).
  • Be willing to plan collectively, but execute lessons that reflect the teaching style of the individual teacher.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the director and/or building principal.


This is a part-time, substitute position.
